Alligator formed in 1988 in Vigevano, northern Italy, during a fertile period for the country’s underground metal scene.
Blending the speed and aggression of Bay Area thrash with the darker intensity of European death metal, they quickly stood out for their raw power and uncompromising sound.
Their music combined relentless riffing, technical precision, and bleak atmospheres, gaining them a loyal following in the extreme metal underground.
After their 1990 demo Bog of Horror, the band released their first full-length Immortal Entity in 1991—an explosive debut that earned them a spot among Italy’s most promising metal acts.
In 1994, they followed up with Cerebral Implosion, a more mature and intricate record, exploring technical and atmospheric elements without losing their edge.
Their final album, Rules (1996), leaned further into a modern death metal direction, but also marked the end of their journey.
Alligator’s lineup included Gianluca Melino on vocals and bass, guitarists Francesco “Killa” Capasso and Tiziano Colombi, and drummer Andrea Bellazzi, with later contributions from Dario Zanaboni and Davide Martinelli.
Though they disbanded in 1996, Alligator remain a cult name for fans of the ’90s Italian extreme metal scene.
Their rare records are now treasured relics of an era, capturing the energy and vision of a band that gave everything to the underground.
Recorded and mixed at HM Studios (Vanexa, Distorted Violence), Vigevano (Pavia) in February 1991.
